TechStars

Metzger began working with TechStars at its founding in 2007 as a part of our commitment to support entrepreneurism and the local startup community. The public relations program was established to increase awareness within the tech industry with the goal of raising venture capital for the new companies and attracting mentors and advisers for the program.

TechStars’ target market was up-and-coming tech companies and individuals with new business ideas, as well as national venture capitalists and angel investors. Since launching, TechStars has grown to Seattle, Boston and New York City, and launched the national TechStars Network with the White House Startup America program.

Metzger’s strategic media outreach was vital to the national branding and positioning of the TechStars’ startup accelerator model. Many of the companies and investors are vastly tech savvy and look to social media for much of their news, which has been supported and validated through traditional media relations efforts to boost TechStars’ clout within the industry and help launch them into the eye of international media.

Since working with Metzger, TechStars has secured more than 50 news articles during 2010 alone, including large articles in the New York Times, Forbes, Reuters, TechCrunch and Inc. Magazine. The combination of print, broadcast and online media helped TechStars obtain national awareness with venture capital firms, angel investors, prospective companies and individuals.
