Fire. It’s a good word to describe my career and my personality. I’ve been in a lot of trial by fire situations from managing crisis communications for natural disasters, writing about small town murders that made national headlines and igniting my passions for social media, clean energy, healthcare and emerging technologies.

I started out my career as a newspaper reporter at the age of 16 when I walked into my town’s newspaper office to see if I could get a job sorting film in the darkroom. The editor looked at me and screamed, “I’m trying to put out a fire here!” Then the lightbulb went off. He remembered I worked for the high school newspaper. He had forgotten to send a reporter to an important event.

My BFA in Visual Arts with a graphics emphasis from Stephens college taught me solid design skills while working on first-generations Macs and version 2.0 Adobe software. I’ve been designing websites since before most people knew what they were and love how much the web has morphed into something cooler and more meaningful than we could have imagined 15 years ago.
